Vortex is a powerful content-blocking system developed by AstroVPN. It acts as an additional layer of protection for our customers by eliminating advertisements, malware, tracking mechanisms, and other potential threats from their online experience. By seamlessly integrating with our VPN service, Vortex enhances users' privacy and security while browsing the internet. It effectively blocks unwanted content and provides a cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable online environment. With Vortex enabled, users can experience faster loading times, improved privacy, and a reduction in annoying distractions that are commonly encountered during online activities.

Disabling Vortex gives you control: choose ads, track your data, and access blocked sites. Personalize your browsing experience, but consider potential risks.

Windows

  1. First, use the Control Panel (or search bar) to open up Network Status, and click on "Change Adapter Options".

  2. Once Network Connections is open, locate the network adapter named "TAP-Windows Adapter V9 for OpenVPN Connect". Then right-click the adapter and select "Properties".

  3. Once you have the adapter options open, look for "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP). Double-click it, and a new window should open.

  4. Next, please make sure that "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" is selected, to ensure you are assigned an IP address properly by our VPN network.

Then, change the DNS setting to "Use the Following DNS Server Addresses" and enter 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 (or the DNS servers of your preference)! When done, click OK and close any remaining windows.

Optionally check "Validate settings upon exit" to ensure correctness.

  5. It is important to make sure all network/setting related windows are fully closed to ensure they properly save. It is also recommended to reconnect to AstroVPN once you've made these changes to ensure they are fully applied. You're now ready to enjoy vortex-free AstroVPN service!
